Excuses

I haven't been great at updating this blog...or my other one (http://www.arielanastcia93.blogspot.com/) for that matter. Mostly because I work a lot. Partly because when I'm not working, I have a strange need to still do stuff.

That stuff may or may not be visit the library...

Anyway, this is my life as of late, and the excuses for not posting or updating or anything for quite some time:
My mom had surgery to have her gall bladder removed almost two weeks ago. She's feeling pretty good now, but it's kinda distressing she can't eat like she used to. Or really much of anything for that matter.
I have no vehicle to drive. I mean, I could learn stick shift and take over my dad's precious Jeep, but I have a strange feeling that is NOT going to happen. The van I used to drive to work needs a new engine (oh how nice, right?) and that may (or may not) solve all of the problems with it.
My parents' insurance won't cover a hospital visit to get my wisdom teeth removed. Who needs a hospital, right? Wrong. The guy who would do the surgery won't put me out unless I'm in a hospital because I have CF. Apparently outside of a hospital, I might crash right during surgery if I'm put out...Awesome. So I either have to stay awake for the whole thing or fight with insurance.
I have had a few of my hours cut at Subway latey. Sandy (my boss) can only give out so many hours to her employees, and she just hired two new people. I'm taking on babysitting jobs on the side when I can, but it's kinda hard because my hours are so crazy and unpredictable. Like Wednesday, I was supposed to work a 4 hour shift, but then was asked to cover for Jessica and ended up pulling 9.5 hours straight in my Subway...it was pretty intense and I had to cancel helping with some girls at church. It was slightly heart breaking, but at the same time, like...I need the money. And the trust from my boss.
I'm still searching (sorta) for a second job, though I may wait until mid October to start really applying for holiday help. Around November, I can expect my hours at various places to just skyrocket, but I'm not totally sure about that. I can hope, right?
My sister (who has scoliosis) has started to notice weird back pains, and when they x-rayed her, they noticed her back was STILL curving, despite the metal rods holding her spine straight. So we of course need to figure out how dangerout his is, contact specialists, etc etc etc. Having a medically challenged family is expensive and hectic.
I also am trying to prepare for college on non-financial paths, as well. Like figure out classes and whatnot. Which, by the way, is not the easiest thing in the world when your mom attended less than a full year of college and your father didn't finish high school within the walls of a public education building. They are both very smart people and I trust them with most of everything else in my life, but they sorta lack the experience needed to show me the ropes for a 4 year degree. Which is okay, just mentally and emotionally tolling.
I'm also watching a lot of my closest friends leave. Either for college or for missions for church...including my boyfriend. Which is not the END of the world, but it's certainly not the happiest thing I've experienced.

I'm also spending a lot of time reading. A lot. Because sometimes it's nice to escape into another world. One where bad things still happen to good people, but they figure it all out in the end. So maybe Sixty-Five Pennies is the last chapter of my mystery thriller book. Who knows?

I'm not very good at asking for favors. I have a tendency to be working on three sandwiches at once before calling someone from the back to come serve the next person in line at work, and I have a tendency to think I can handle the bigger hurdles without help. But this one, I know I can't do on my own. I guess with everything else going on in my life, I'm realizing that I'm just another factor in a crazy busy world. It's a little sad, but I guess it's my job to make my mark rather than wait for someone else to invite me to do so.
